Two prototypes that went on a tear. Aka-Samurai Meteor Glow Orange and UV Leaf Green, out in September
In September 2026 EgiSharp gains two new colours: Aka-Samurai Meteor Glow Orange, an orange that glows quietly over a gold base, and UV Leaf Green, a wave-holo foil under a fluorescent-green back with glow. Both come in eight versions — sizes 3.5 and 3.8 × V0 / V0+ / V1 / V2. On the final prototype test, on a rocky shore in Okinawa, from sunset into the night, the two colours — still prototypes then — took squid after squid.

The two colours
EgiSharp gains two new colours, Aka-Samurai Meteor Glow Orange and UV Leaf Green, in September 2026. An orange that glows quietly over a gold base, and a wave-holo foil under a fluorescent-green back with glow. For the final pre-release test, Toshiki and Akasamurai (joined partway by Yashu) took the prototypes to a slit in 3–6 m of water in Okinawa. With light still in the sky, Toshiki took one on UV Leaf Green on the first fall of a full cast, then kept catching on the same colour by changing the depth. After dark, Akasamurai took a kilo-plus on Aka-Samurai Meteor Glow Orange, on the fall out wide.

Colour make-up, and the conditions that day
Aka-Samurai Meteor Glow Orange: gold foil, a Meteor Glow undercoat, red-orange along the back, Red Fire Meta cloth, silver eyes, red-brown feathers. It is what Akasamurai calls “Meteor Glow, gold base, orange back — UV orange”, a new colour joining Purple and Red in the Aka-Samurai Meteor Glow family (Aka-Samurai Meteor Glow Green arrives the same September). A loud glow puts them on guard. The gold foil returns the last of the light while the orange stands the outline up from within — a quiet glow that says only “I am here” in the half light.
UV Leaf Green: wave-holo silver foil, Meta cloth with a fluorescent-green back, a white undercoat along the back with glow over it, a silver belly line, gold eyes, red-brown feathers. It is the colour Toshiki describes as “wave holo” and “lime green on the back — fluorescent green with glow in it”, and he designed it himself. Being fluorescent green it also reacts to UV, and in his words it has “been catching on dark nights and moonlit ones”.
Both ship in eight versions — sizes 3.5 and 3.8 × V0 / V0+ / V1 / V2 — in September 2026. Toshiki was throwing size 4.3, but this release is sizes 3.5 and 3.8. Tackle on the day: a Stoist RT Interline 79MMH rod, a Certate LT2500S reel, Sunline PE EGI-ULT HS8 0.6, and an FC Hard 2.5 leader. The wind was light, and slack water came mid-session.
The Lure's Role

It ships in eight versions — sizes 3.5 and 3.8 × V0 / V0+ / V1 / V2. EgiSharp itself is a sharp form that pushes the buoyancy of rigid urethane foam to its limit, with the one-of-a-kind KS06 hooks, and four fall speeds within the same size (in 3.8: V0 17g and V0+ 18g are slow, V1 19g normal, V2 24g fast). Colour and fall speed are chosen independently — that is the design.
They fished 3–6 m in V1 all evening, about a nine count to the bottom. Most of the bites came on the fall, including one that was simply there when the slack was taken up. UV Leaf Green: the first fall of a full cast, then the surface with a sideways sweep — the same colour, a different depth, one after another. After the moment when the light sent one running, the next squid came with “no light” — “it was glow” — tracked by the glow, without a torch. Aka-Samurai Meteor Glow Orange: a kilo-plus after dark, on the fall out wide. “This one's good. It just keeps coming.”

At the time of filming they are still called “prototype” and “new colour”, and no release date is given.
