Numbers, but no size — and the kilo-and-a-half came before the bite window
A moonless spring tide with light rain, over 6 to 8 metres of shallow water. The good fish came before the bite window, while light still remained — and the moment the tide stopped, so did everything else.
Why this video
Round three of the 2025 season on the Akazamurai channel. One egi for the whole seven minutes and five seconds: EgiSharp size 3.8 in V1, in the Akazamurai Meteor Glow Orange prototype. It came on the first cast, and good fish keep coming until 5:08.

Beyond the Video
The change described in the video simply as “switching to V0+” is, in numbers, size 3.8 V1 (19 g) to size 3.8 V0+ (18 g) — one gram lighter, to slow the fall. The EgiSharp size 3.8 comes in four steps: V0 (17 g), V0+ (18 g), V1 (19 g) and V2 (24 g), where V1 is the normal rate, V0 and V0+ are slow, and V2 is the fast fall. When the tide stopped, he moved down the scale.
On the colour, the video says “prototype” and “a prototype colour” throughout. The EgiSharp Akazamurai colours already include Akazamurai Meteor Glow Purple and Akazamurai Meteor Glow Red, and the orange here is a prototype in the same Meteor Glow family. The official colour name is Akazamurai Meteor Glow Orange, coming September 2026. At the time of this video, neither the name nor the release had been announced. The only clue to what it is comes from the description given on camera: orange over a gold base.
The Lure's Role
EgiSharp
An egi built on a sharp form that takes the high buoyancy of rigid urethane foam to its limit, with the KS06 hook found on nothing else. Its defining feature is that the same size can be had in four fall speeds — V0, V0+, V1 and V2; in size 3.8 those are 17 g, 18 g, 19 g and 24 g respectively. Colour and fall speed are two separate things, each moved to suit the conditions.
What was needed changed between the first half and the second. While light remained and the tide was still moving, he stayed on V1, where distance and control balance, and matched only the presentation — orange over a gold base — to the conditions. Once the tide stopped, he stayed on size 3.8 but dropped to V0+, moving to the side of the problem that buys time in front of the squid. Being able to move the fall speed one step without changing size is what leaves room to act without moving spot.
