Orange that glows, quietly — Aka-Samurai Meteor Glow Orange, out in September
EgiSharp gains a new colour in the Aka-Samurai Meteor Glow family. Orange glow over a gold base: it does not blaze, it stands the outline up in the half light. Eight versions — sizes 3.5 and 3.8 × V0 / V0+ / V1 / V2 — from September 2026. On its final pre-release test, a kilo and a half came on the first cast.

About Meteor Glow
EgiSharp gains a new colour, Aka-Samurai Meteor Glow Orange, in September 2026 — joining Purple and Red in the Aka-Samurai Meteor Glow family (Aka-Samurai Meteor Glow Green arrives the same September). Orange glow over a gold base: a glow that does not blaze but stands the outline up in the half light. For the final pre-release test, Akazamurai took it out on a moonless spring tide and ran a single egi, 3.8 in V1, from start to finish. A kilo and a half on the first cast, and good fish kept coming.

Line-up and the Colour
A loud glow puts them on guard. But something that does not glow at all is never noticed. This colour aims at the space between. The Meteor Glow undercoat glows orange, quietly. Instead of a strong luminous body washing the outline out, the gold foil returns the last of the light while the orange stands the outline up from within — a way of glowing that says only “I am here” in the half light.
The build: gold foil, a Meteor Glow undercoat, red-orange along the back, Red Fire Meta cloth, silver eyes, red-brown feathers. This is what Akazamurai calls “orange over a gold base”.
Tackle on the day: a Stoist RT Interline 79MMH rod, a Certate LT2500S reel, Sunline PE EGI-ULT HS8 0.6, and an FC Hard 2.5 leader. The spot was 6–8 metres of shallow water, on a moonless spring tide with light rain.
The Lure's Role
EgiSharp
It ships in eight versions — sizes 3.5 and 3.8 × V0 / V0+ / V1 / V2. EgiSharp itself is a sharp form that pushes the buoyancy of rigid urethane foam to its limit, with the one-of-a-kind KS06 hooks, and four fall speeds within the same size (in 3.8: V0 17g and V0+ 18g are slow, V1 19g normal, V2 24g fast). Colour and fall speed are chosen independently — that is the design.
How it was used on the final test is the template. Light still in the sky, before the bite window, 6–8 metres — size 3.8 in V1. “It’s still before the bite window and there’s a little light left, so size 3.8 in V1” is how he chose this colour, and the first cast answered. Once the tide stops, drop to V0+ in the same size. One step slower, buying time in front of the squid (on this day nothing came after that). Because fall speed moves without changing size, you still have a move to make without leaving the spot.

The fishing above is what this video records: the Akazamurai channel on a moonless spring tide, seven minutes and five seconds — a kilo and a half on the first cast, good fish through to 5:08. At the time of filming it was still in final testing, so neither the name nor the release is mentioned. The egi he calls “orange over a gold base” (04:47) is this colour.
