Bigfin Reef Squid

In 2007, our late founder Genzo Kanagawa developed the "EgiSharp," aiming to create an egi (squid jig) that would surpass the conventional Oita-type.
A sharp silhouette that pushes the high-buoyancy characteristics of rigid urethane foam to their limit.
A sinker that delivers crisp, incisive action.
And the one-of-a-kind KS06 hook that elevates it to legendary status.
Refusing to rely on standard components, the founder designed something entirely new from his own unique perspective - a true masterpiece.
In developing the EgiSharp, there was one major obstacle.
Fitting it with existing crown hooks (kanna) imposed limits on its hydrodynamic behavior underwater.
Commercially available crown hooks came in only a few specifications, and that constrained the lure's performance.
To solve this problem, we developed an entirely new crown hook exclusively for the EgiSharp - the "KS06 hook".
As a result, we succeeded in elevating the EgiSharp to a legendary level. Adding the dedicated "KS06 hook" as the final element was, quite literally, the finishing touch that brought the whole design to life.
Every KeyStone egi is made from a material called rigid urethane foam.
It combines high buoyancy with outstanding durability, and for now it remains the ideal material for meeting the ever-changing demands of anglers.
However, its very nature makes it extremely difficult to produce consistent, uniform bodies, which is why most egi you see in stores do not use this material.
At KeyStone, years of research and development have made uniform, stable production possible.
⇒ V0 type: Ultra-slow fall
⇒ V0+ type: Slow fall
⇒ V1 type: Standard fall
⇒ V2 type: Fast fall
These four types are the specifications for fall speed during free fall.
However, the single most important factor in an egi's performance is its balance during the tension fall.
Pursuing balance in both the "free fall" and the "tension fall" is the most critical point, and the hardest part of developing an egi.
The payoff shows up in sensitivity, darting performance, sinking posture, controllability, casting distance - and ultimately in your catch.
This is the total balance that KeyStone relentlessly pursues. The EgiSharp is tuned to the highest level of balance across every specification.
Not No.3.5, not No.4.0 - No.3.8 is exactly the sweet-spot size. With the No.3.8 V0+ tuned to an optimal weight of around 18g, casting distance, fall rate, and controllability reach their highest balance. From high-volume autumn fishing to large springtime bigfin reef squid (aori-ika), it is a size with an overwhelming track record across every season.
It is the combination of a sharp silhouette that maximizes the high-buoyancy characteristics of rigid urethane foam with the one-of-a-kind KS06 hook. It achieves optimal balance in both free fall and tension fall, harmonizing sensitivity, darting performance, sinking posture, controllability, and casting distance at the highest level.
V0 is an ultra-slow fall, ideal for large springtime bigfin reef squid (aori-ika) and working weed beds. V0+ is an all-round slow fall you can use year-round. V1 is the standard, suited to everyone from beginners to advanced anglers. V2 is a fast fall, effective in deep water, strong currents, and high winds.
It is a crown hook (kanna) developed exclusively for the EgiSharp. Because commercially available crown hooks impose limits on hydrodynamic behavior underwater, we designed an entirely new specification of hook to draw out the full potential of the EgiSharp. It is the dedicated component that served as the finishing touch bringing the whole design to life.
