The Fruit of 10 Years of Development

Development began around 2015,
and we have finally completed
a model we are truly proud of.
After years of trial and error,
our flagship model for large
bigfin reef squid (aori-ika) was born.

Development Goals

(1) Adopt a crown hook (kanna) for large
sizes and a robust carbon shaft
(2) Keep the same appeal while achieving
a lighter, easier jerking action
(3) Keep the weight under 25g

Twice the Hook Size of Conventional Models

Compared with the "KS No.06" crown hook (0.82g)
used on the No.3.5 and No.3.8,
the No.4.3 adopts the large
"KS No.10" crown hook (1.45g).
It delivers robust hooking power that
handles large bigfin reef squid
exceeding 2kg or even 3kg.

Reinforced 2.5mm Carbon Shaft

A robust carbon shaft supports
the large crown hook.
The roughly two-fold weight difference is balanced
by optimizing body buoyancy and the
position of the sinker weight,
achieving remarkable underwater stability.

Built for the Complex Currents of Rocky Shores

Tidal currents, swells,
wind, and the terrain of the rocks—
even amid such complex flows,
it settles into the current and holds the tide well,
keeping the egi stable.
It delivers the underwater stability
that only the No.4.3 size can offer.

Body Tuning to 0.1mm Precision

To keep the jerking light
while maintaining stability,
the body shape was
fine-tuned in 0.1mm increments.
It combines an effortless jerk
with a lively action,
captivating large bigfin reef squid.

Why We Insisted on Under 25g

- Usable as part of your egi rotation
on rocky shores where you can
only carry a single tackle setup
- Light enough to keep you from
tiring even after long hours of jerking

The main reason development took so long
was clearing this under-25g weight target.
We remade the molds again and again
and fine-tuned every detail,
achieving V0+ (23g), V1 (24g),
and V0 (22g).

The EgiSharp Alpha No.4.3, completed
through extensive field testing.
Its track record with large bigfin reef squid
is proof of its performance.
